Course Overview
This course provides a comprehensive and structured exploration of airway management through focused lectures covering the fundamental principles, airway anatomy, airway devices, and essential clinical techniques required for safe and effective airway control.
The course integrates theoretical foundations with practical clinical application, enabling learners to understand airway anatomy, maintain airway patency, and appropriately select and use airway management equipment. Special emphasis is placed on routine airway management, proper handling of airway devices, airway opening techniques, and endotracheal intubation skills.
By the end of this course, learners will develop a strong conceptual and practical framework that supports safe airway assessment, efficient equipment utilization, effective ventilation support, and competent airway intervention in emergency, anesthesia, and critical care settings.
What You Will Learn:
- Airway Anatomy & Core Principles: Gain a solid understanding of upper and lower airway anatomy, anatomical landmarks, and the physiological concepts essential for airway assessment and management.
- Routine Airway Management: Learn the principles of routine airway care, airway evaluation, maintenance of airway patency, and appropriate management strategies in clinical practice.
- Airway Equipment & Clinical Use: Learn about essential airway management equipment and how to use them correctly, including suction devices (Yankauer and bronchial suction catheters), oropharyngeal airways, nasopharyngeal airways, laryngoscopes, laryngeal mask airways (LMA), endotracheal tubes (ETT), bag-mask ventilation devices, face masks and combitube device .
- Airway Opening Techniques: Master fundamental airway opening maneuvers and techniques used to establish and maintain a safe and effective airway.
- Endotracheal Intubation Skills: Understand the preparation, indications, equipment setup, and procedural steps required to perform endotracheal intubation safely and effectively.
- Clinical Application & Practical Skills: Develop the ability to integrate theoretical knowledge with practical airway management skills and confidently apply airway techniques in emergency, perioperative, and critical care settings
Target Audience
This course is designed for medical students, respiratory therapy students, nurses, anesthesia providers, emergency and critical care professionals, and healthcare practitioners who wish to strengthen their understanding of airway management and confidently apply airway skills in daily clinical practice.
